These Bananas Could Sit On A Shelf Forever Posted: 04 Apr 2011 07:49 AM PDT Thanks to nanotechnology and the smart guys at Texas A&M. But the kicker is keeping grocery food fresh is all a matter of packaging. With the kind of packaging available to the industry today, most of what we buy for food withers in a matter of time (or in the case of bread, days). However, if nano particles could be injected into a special film, lots of our food can last ages. We’re not sure about fresh fruit like bananas being preserved infinitely though, since it’s the freshness that makes them marketable. Banana chips, perhaps?
